The Liquor Store in Oyama: Cold Beer and Wine Without the Detour
A fully stocked rural liquor retail store on the isthmus — so the last stop before the lake is also the only stop.
If you’re heading to Wood Lake or Kalamalka for the afternoon, the last thing you want is a detour into town for a case of beer you forgot.
Oyama General Store holds a rural liquor licence, and the store is fully stocked.
What we carry
- Cold beer — the important word being cold
- Coolers and ready-to-drink
- Wine
- Hard alcohol
We’re in the middle of one of the best wine regions in the country, and we stock accordingly.
Why it matters where we are
We’re on the Oyama Isthmus, the strip between the two lakes, right off Highway 97 and next to Pelmewash Parkway. For anyone heading to the water, the boat launch, or the Rail Trail, we’re already on the way — not a fifteen-minute round trip in the wrong direction.
That’s the whole point of a rural store. You stop once.
Grab the rest while you’re at it
The things people forget are usually the things that matter most on a hot day:
- Bagged ice — for the cooler, or for keeping your catch cold
- Cold drinks and water — bring more than you think
- Snacks, dairy, and dry goods
- Fresh produce — we’re surrounded by orchards and we take it seriously
If you’re camping or out for the day, one stop here generally covers it.
Please plan for a safe ride home
If you’re drinking at the lake, sort out how you’re getting home before you go. Have a designated driver, or plan to stay put. We’d rather see you again next weekend.
