Calm morning water on Kalamalka Lake

Two lakes, one beach

Oyama is the strip of land between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake. Kalamalka is the famous turquoise one; Wood Lake is warmer and more sheltered. Both are a short walk from where you pick up.

Mornings are usually the calmest. Go early, paddle for a few hours, then walk back for ice cream or a cold drink at the store.

Paddling questions

Where do I launch?
From the beach at the Oyama Isthmus, steps from the rental counter. Wood Lake is on one side and Kalamalka Lake on the other, so you can pick the calmer water on the day.
Do I need experience to paddleboard?
No. The inflatable boards are wide and stable, mornings are usually glassy, and we will get you set up and on the water with the basics before you push off.
Are there boards for kids?
Yes. The 10'2" youth board is sized for smaller paddlers, and the sit-on-top kayak is an easy option for anyone who would rather sit than stand.
How far is Oyama from Kelowna?
About 25 minutes from downtown Kelowna and 20 minutes from Vernon, directly off Highway 97 in Lake Country. Park at the store on Pelmewash Parkway.
How do I book?
Online, in a couple of minutes: pick your dates, choose a board or kayak, and check out. The rental agreement and waiver are signed from your phone. Booking a day ahead is a good idea on summer weekends.

Ready to get on the water?
